Clean Operating Room

Principle of clean operating room:

The clean operating room adopts a series of measures to purify the air, so that the indoor air cleanliness can meet the requirements of the operating environment, and provide appropriate temperature and humidity to create a clean and comfortable operating space environment.
With the help of primary, medium and high-efficiency air filters, the outdoor air is filtered, the purified clean air is introduced into the operating theatre, and the polluted air is purified and discharged, so that the operating room is always in a clean state.

The clean operating room is divided into Class I operating room, Class II operating room, Class III operating room, Class IV operating room and positive and negative pressure switching operating rooms at each level. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of the clean operating room, it is very necessary to strengthen the completion acceptance testing, maintenance and debugging testing of the clean operating room.

Basic requirements of clean operating room HVAC system:

Fresh air can adopt centralized system;
Each operating room should be equipped with an independent exhaust system;
Heating radiators shall not be installed in Class I, II, III clean operating rooms and Class I, II clean auxiliary rooms (if other cleanrooms need to be installed, radiant panel radiators can be used);

The purification air-conditioning system shall be equipped with at least three levels of air filtration:

  • Primary filter—located at the fresh air outlet or close to the fresh air outlet;
  • Medium-efficiency filter—located in the positive pressure section of the system;
  • High efficiency filter – located at the end of the system (purification air supply ceiling);
  • Fresh air unit (centralized treatment of fresh air): set up primary, medium and sub-efficient filters;
  • Operating room temperature and humidity: temperature: 22-25 ℃, humidity: 40-60%.
  • The temperature and humidity are too high: the amount of bacteria in the medical staff is high, they feel uncomfortable;
  • Hypothermia: The patient has hypothermic dysfunction;
  • Humidity is too low: The patient’s surgical incision loses water, which is not conducive to healing.
